Nest is a gamified longevity app designed to make healthy routines feel approachable and rewarding instead of overwhelming. The idea came from noticing how most health apps focus on metrics and performance, which can feel clinical and hard to sustain. Nest reframes habit tracking through a nurturing system where users care for a small digital companion that grows alongside their real-life progress. Daily actions like walking, sleeping well, and staying hydrated translate into visible changes in the companion’s environment, creating a sense of attachment and consistency. I focused on defining the core experience—from onboarding and habit setup to feedback loops and long-term progression—while designing the interface to feel calm, playful, and low-pressure. The project explores how emotional design and light gamification can support long-term behavior change without turning wellness into another productivity task.
Most health and longevity apps are data-heavy, clinical, and built around performance metrics. They track steps, calories, sleep scores, and streaks—but they don’t address motivation fatigue. Users often start strong and then drop off because the experience feels transactional, overwhelming, or guilt-driven. The core issue isn’t lack of information; it’s lack of emotional engagement and sustainable motivation.

Nest reframes habit tracking through emotional design and light gamification. Instead of focusing on numbers first, it connects daily health behaviors to the growth of a digital companion and its environment. Small real-world actions—walking, sleeping well, hydrating—translate into visible, meaningful changes in the app. This creates attachment, progress you can see, and a low-pressure feedback loop. The goal is to make long-term wellness feel nurturing and consistent rather than competitive or productivity-driven.
